General

No. KolhanHub is not an official website of Kolhan University or Tata College.

KolhanHub is an independent student resource created to make academic information easier to find and understand.

We provide resources such as PYQs, syllabus, notes, results, result analysis, guides, and practical information to help students save time and prepare better.

The goal is simple: make the college journey easier for students by bringing useful information into one place.

We will continue adding new features and resources based on what students actually need.

First, check the official Kolhan University syllabus and ask your subject teacher or department about the latest syllabus.

Syllabus can change or be revised, so don't blindly prepare from an old syllabus.

KolhanHub tries to provide the relevant syllabus and keep it updated, but the latest official university/college information should always be treated as the final authority.

Yes. The PYQs are genuine.

Many original question papers are old, blurry, scanned poorly, or difficult to read. In some cases, we use AI to improve the readability and presentation of the original paper.

The purpose of AI is to enhance the quality of the scan — not to create or invent questions.

We also verify the enhanced version against the original PYQ before uploading it.

So, the question paper is authentic; AI is only used to improve its readability when necessary.

First of all, don't panic. You have plenty of time before your Semester 1 examination.

The best thing you can do is talk to your seniors and subject teachers. They can guide you about books, teachers, preparation and common mistakes.

You should also:

  • Check your syllabus carefully.
  • Look at previous year question papers.
  • Analyse previous results to understand examination patterns.
  • Follow the KolhanHub Guide section for useful preparation tips.

Don't wait until the final few weeks before starting.

Subjects

For Minor, don't choose blindly just because everyone else is choosing the same subject.

Before deciding:

  • Check what students generally take using KolhanResult.
  • Ask your Major subject teacher.
  • Ask seniors who have already studied the subject.
  • Check the rules about which Minor subjects you are allowed to choose.
  • Consider whether the subject matches your interests or future career plans.

For MDC, you generally have more flexibility. You can choose a subject that is scoring and relatively low-pressure, or simply choose something you genuinely want to study.

From my experience, Anthropology has been comparatively easy to score in, while Economics at Tata College is also considered a good option.

However, students should still check the current syllabus and ask seniors before making a final decision.

These are different types of papers in the undergraduate course.

Major: Your main/core subject. For example, if you are doing B.Sc Mathematics Honours, Mathematics is your Major. For a Major paper with practical components, the marks distribution in the current scheme can include 60 marks external + 40 marks internal/practical.

Minor: A secondary subject studied alongside your Major. Depending on whether the Minor paper is practical or non-practical, the marks distribution can differ. In the current scheme:

  • Practical Minor: 60 external + 40 internal/practical
  • Non-practical Minor: 75 external + 25 internal

AEC (Ability Enhancement Course): For example, the usual pattern includes Semester 1 – Hindi, Semester 2 – English. From later semesters, students may have choices depending on the available options. Be careful while choosing later AEC papers. AEC-3 and AEC-4 need to follow the applicable combination rules, so don't choose them randomly.

MDC (Multidisciplinary Course): A paper outside your Major, where you can choose something based on your interest or scoring potential.

SEC (Skill Enhancement Course): Skill-oriented papers.

VAC (Value Added Course): Additional/general-value papers outside your core subject.

There is no universal list of subjects that everyone should avoid.

But don't choose a Major just because everyone else is taking it.

Major subjects can require significantly more time and consistent preparation. For example, B.Sc Mathematics is not just about solving numerical problems. You may have to learn many definitions, theorems, proofs and concepts, and it can become difficult if you leave preparation until the last moment.

I have seen students struggle to clear demanding Major subjects and continue into the second or third year.

For MDC, AEC and SEC, there is generally less reason to worry heavily. For Minor, talk to seniors and teachers and check previous results to understand which options are more manageable.

The important thing is to choose based on your ability, interest and career plans, rather than simply following the crowd.

For B.Sc Mathematics at Kolhan University, Lalji Prasad's books are a strong choice for the current syllabus followed by the recent batches such as 2022, 2023 and 2024.

The syllabus should still be checked before choosing a book because the syllabus can change.

The books are also available online, and they are sometimes available at discounted prices.

Recommendations for other departments will be added to KolhanHub later.

Exam Preparation

PYQs and the syllabus can help you a lot, but they should not be your only source of preparation.

The syllabus tells you what to study, while PYQs show you how the examiner asks questions.

You should also check previous results to understand the difficulty and general performance pattern.

Use these together:

Syllabus → PYQs → PYQ analysis → Study → Revision → Practice

Don't prepare only by memorising questions because you expect the exact same question to repeat.

Solve every available PYQ that matches your current syllabus.

Questions can repeat in Kolhan University, but the bigger advantage is understanding the examiner's pattern.

By analysing several PYQs, you can identify:

  • Repeated topics
  • High-weightage topics
  • Important units
  • Common question patterns
  • How the examiner frames questions

The goal is not simply to predict the next paper. The goal is to understand how the paper is set.

Don't simply solve PYQs one by one.

First compare them unit-wise with your syllabus.

Look for:

  • Topics that repeat
  • Topics with high weightage
  • Important long-answer questions
  • Frequently asked short questions
  • Changes in question pattern

This will give you a much clearer picture of what the examiner normally focuses on.

🎓

Examination Process

Before the examination, the admit card is generally made available through the Kolhan University examination portal.

You normally need details such as your date of birth, registration number or roll number.

Sometimes one number may not work, so try the other applicable login details as well.

After downloading your admit card, check all the details carefully.

Important: Get the required college principal's signature and stamp/seal before going to the examination.

Without the required authentication, you may face problems at the examination centre.

Don't ignore it.

Go to your college and contact the examination department as soon as possible.

You may need to write an application, get it signed and stamped by the Principal, and submit it through the college examination department for correction.

These kinds of problems happen from time to time, and they can usually be addressed more easily when you report them early.

You can normally fill the examination form through the Kolhan University examination portal.

You can also take help from a cyber café if necessary.

The important thing is: Don't rush while filling the form.

Check your:

  • Semester
  • Subjects
  • Registration/roll details
  • Examination category
  • Other personal details

If you are confused about any selection, ask your seniors, classmates or teachers before submitting.

Check the official Kolhan University website.

Also check your college's official communication channels or student groups because exam notices are often shared there.

You can also check our Exam Archive section where we save official date sheets, exam centre lists, and result notifications organised by batch and semester.

For important information, always cross-check with an official source rather than relying only on a forwarded message.

If you find an error or don't understand something in your result, first go to your college examination department.

Show them your result and explain the issue.

They can tell you what procedure to follow and whether the matter needs to be taken up with the university examination department.

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) shows your academic performance for a particular semester.

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) represents your overall academic performance across the semesters included in the calculation.

The calculation depends on your university's credit and grading system.

You can use our CGPA Calculator to calculate your CGPA easily.

Failing a paper does not automatically mean that you have to stop your course.

Whether you can move to the next year depends on the promotion rules applicable to your batch, including the required number of passed papers/credits and percentage requirements.

Because these rules can change, students should always check the current university rules and official notices for their batch.

Generally, if you fail a paper, you get an opportunity to appear for that paper again in a subsequent examination, subject to the university's rules.

When filling the next examination form, carefully check whether you have to apply under regular, back-paper, ex-regular or another applicable category.

A back paper is generally a paper that you have not successfully cleared and need to appear for again in a later examination.

For example, if you fail to achieve the required passing marks in a paper, you may need to appear for that paper again.

The exact eligibility and procedure should always be checked in the latest university examination notification.

If you miss an examination, you generally cannot simply take the same paper whenever you want.

You will usually have to wait for the next applicable examination opportunity and follow the examination-form procedure for that paper.

If you missed the exam because of an emergency or serious reason, contact your college examination department immediately and ask what procedure applies to your case.

Internal marks are important. Don't treat them as free marks.

Your final result can depend on both your external examination performance and the internal/practical component applicable to your paper.

So:

  • Attend classes where attendance matters.
  • Complete internal assignments/practical work properly.
  • Take internal tests seriously.
  • Check your internal marks when results are released.
  • Report any obvious mistake to your department/college as early as possible.

A student who ignores internals can unnecessarily make the final examination harder for themselves.
